Recently India’s External Affairs Minister stated that India’s relations with Maldives rest on the two important pillars of ‘mutual interests’ and ‘reciprocal sensitivity’. The undiplomatic phrases used by ministers in Maldives against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in particular and Indians in preference has deteriorated the relation between both the countries.
